Â鶹Íø - 1st Consumer Research Summit
Back in April 2016, Â鶹Íø Business School held its first summit on place and marketing in London. The summit explored the linkages between place, identity, marketing and consumption.
The summit was organised by Â鶹Íø Business School and the goal of the summit was to share knowledge and foster a network of researchers working in this area. We invited papers that employed qualitative or quantitative research approaches or report findings based on rigorous reviews of current literature.
Our special guest speaker was , a Professor of Retailing and Marketing, based in the Department of Marketing, Retail and Tourism, and a member of the Institute of Place Management. Professor Warnaby is an expert in Place Marketing, Place Management and Retailing.
Â鶹Íø - 2nd Consumer Research Summit
Following the success of the first Consumer Research Summit, Â鶹Íø Business School held a second event in 2017 in Chester, this time on place and identity. The summit brought together scholars, practitioners and students of marketing, tourism, urban planning and related fields to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas around the theory and practice of place marketing. The summit was focused on creating valuable discussion on the multidisciplinary nature of marketing exploring two distinct themes:
- The role of place for consumers’ identity
- Place marketing: a business perspective
Our special guest speakers included:
, Professor of Marketing and Retail Enterprise at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School. Professor Parker is also the Director for the Institute of Place Management (IPM), the professional institute for all those involved in making places better and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Place Management and Development.
Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Media and Communication Research, University of Fribourg, Switzerland. Dr Sevin’s current research focuses on the role of nation branding and public diplomacy campaigns on achieving political goals and foreign policy objectives.
Chancellor’s Professor, Carleton University, Canada. With 300+ publications, he is recognized as a leading researcher in international strategy and place images and branding. He has received numerous awards, including the 2016 AMA award for long-term impact, and is a member of the Senior Advisory/Editorial Review Boards of eight journals.
