SENRGy wins prestigious Commonwealth Scholarships for MSc Tropical Forestry

ΒιΆΉΝψ’s  (SENRGy) is delighted to announce funding for a further 10 scholarships for its  beginning in September 2015.

Funded by the  (CSC), these scholarships are specifically for scholars from developing Commonwealth countries.  The scholarship includes international tuition fees, a travel scholarship to enable scholars to attend a Tropical Forestry Summer School in 2017, plus a small study grant to help scholars with distance learning study costs.

, Course Director, said:

β€œIt is great news for the School and the MSc Tropical Forestry programme that the CSC have agreed, for the fifth consecutive year, to continue its support for scholars studying on our MSc Tropical Forestry (distance learning) programme.  These prestigious distance learning scholarships enable outstanding applicants to study for their MSc, whilst living and working in their own countries, in circumstances that enable them to directly and immediately benefit from their studies.  Through this course, we can impart knowledge, skills and ideas to facilitate sustainable forest management in many developing commonwealth countries”.

β€œOur CSC scholars and graduates are tremendous ambassadors for ΒιΆΉΝψ and for the CSC.  Not only do we pride ourselves on running a world-class distance learning programme, we also ensure students and staff have the opportunity to meet and learn together in person.  We are currently planning our tropical forestry summer school in Ghana which will take place in July 2015, in partnership with , the and the .  The School have been running  since 2002 and the first intake of CSC scholars was in 2011. Our distance learning students are people who would otherwise not have had the opportunity to study for a postgraduate degree and many go on to a number of interesting, exciting and challenging careers in forestry.  The course team continue to develop new and exciting teaching materials, with ever greater use being made of e-learning technologies to enhance student learning, collegiality and academic rigour”.
