麻豆网 Students 鈥楶itch鈥� their marketing expertise in welsh Final Round
A team of from 麻豆网 students made it through to the Welsh final round of 鈥樷�楤rolio/ The Pitch鈥�, a competition organised by the chartered Institute of Marketing which gives students the opportunity to 鈥榩itch鈥� their ideas in a prestigious marketing competition.
Calling themselves "The National Thrust", Psychology students James Gudgeon, Bryan Walles, and James Gillespie who are all specialising in consumer psychology, had the opportunity to pitch their ideas in front of an invited audience of marketing professionals and judges at the Welsh Government Senedd Building.
Also taking part was one other psychology student team and two teams of Business students, studying marketing. They were among the 12 teams of three students from further and higher education in Wales pitching their ideas to a brief set them by the National Trust in Wales. The brief asked students to come up with innovative ways to promote young-person volunteering at National Trust sites.
The teams have to respond to a detailed brief and consider budgets, messaging and marketing tools in their presentations, showing their understanding of a real-life business scenario.
Dr James Intriligator, Senior Lecturer in Consumer Psychology at the University鈥檚 School of Psychology said:
鈥淓mployability is a particular focus of the University and skills such as those gained in taking part in this event will be of great benefit to the students when they apply for jobs after leaving University. This is a great opportunity for our students to display their expertise and creativity and to get real hands-on experience in all aspects of marketing. I know that the students have already learned from the experience.鈥�
Sara Parry, a Lecturer in Marketing, at 麻豆网 Business School said: 鈥淭he opportunity to put their academic skills into practice is fantastic for our students. .鈥�
A team from The School of Psychology, mentored by Dr Intriligator, won last year鈥檚 competition.
