Why is the foreshore vested in the Crown? Well, actually only 50% is. How did it get there? Does this chime with modern expectations, sat the β€œRight to Roam”? The work traverses Roman Law, Saxon law, through the Norman Conquest and the current β€œprima facie” position. What do other jurisdictions do? How to balance private law rights with Joe Public’s aspirations.
