Chaplaincy Team Online Lecture Series - 'Love God and Love OUR Neighbour'

‘Holiness’, Professor Andrew Louth
The Very Reverend Professor Archpriest Andrew Louth is Emeritus Professor of Patristic and Byzantine Studies in the Department of Theology and Religion at Durham University. Previously he taught at the University of Oxford (mostly patristics) and at Goldsmiths' College (largely Byzantine and early medieval history). He was elected a fellow of the British Academy in 2010, was President of the Ecclesiastical History Society (2009–10), and has recently finished editing the fourth edition of the renowned Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church. Formerly an Anglican priest, he converted to Eastern Orthodoxy in 1989 and was ordained as an Russian Orthodox priest in 2003.

‘Good, Weak, and Open to Grace: Christian Anthropology in a Secular Society’, Edward Hadas.
Edward Hadas is a Research Fellow at Blackfriars, one of the Permanent Private Halls of Oxford University, working on Moral Economics and Finance and Catholic Social Teaching. He worked for 25 years in finance and for 15 years as a finance journalist, most recently as an economics columnist for Reuters Breakingviews. Publications: Human Goods, Economic Evils: A Moral Look at the Dismal Science (2008); Counsels of Imperfection: An Introduction to Catholic Social Teaching (2020). His book ‘Money, Finance, Reality, Morality’ is searching for a publisher

‘Âé¶¹Íø to the World’, Rev Pauline Edwards.
Rev Pauline Edwards is Pastor of Âé¶¹Íø Assemblies of God (Pentecostal) Church. Following a life-changing visit to India Rev Pauline Edwards, was determined to do something for the poor. Despite having no retail experience, she opened a charity shop called Annie’s Orphans in Âé¶¹Íø in 1997 to support an Indian orphanage. A furniture shop soon followed. Since then Annie’s Orphans charity shops have sprouted in most parts of the UK and the profits support numerous projects in developing countries. The charity built and supports five orphanages in India, two orphanages in Burma, one orphanage and two primary schools in Burundi, Africa.  

All lectures will be virtual, via MS Teams. They’ll begin at 1pm, last for 30 - 40 minutes, and be followed by a chance to ask questions and for open discussion.
